Vintage RC cars are hot property, ask any RC cars collector. The older the car the better it is.
Since the modest beginnings of modern day RC hobby till date, a lot has changed in terms of aesthetics and performance. Technology itself has evolved over this period of time and has been so for the betterment of the hobby and as per the wish of its aficionados.

Though the latest gadgets are in they have certainly not replaced the good old vintage RC cars. The nostalgia of wriggling around with a late 70s or early 80s radio controlled car is way too much to handle for some of the devoted enthusiasts who have been into this hobby for probably as long as the hobby has been around.

The early 1980’s were the golden years for the 1/10 scale off road RC car. Leading the way was Team Associated’s RC10 which was the buggy to beat for several years in the world of RC off road racing. The RC10 dominated off-road racing worldwide and won the first ever IFMAR Off Road World Championships was held in 1985, in Del Mar, California. Jay Halsey ‘Jammin Jay’ ran away with the race, becoming the first ever IFMAR World Champion. If you over the age of 35 you might remember this car. It was the pinnacle goal for most young RC car enthusiast’s to own.

Remembering back to 1984.

The year was 1984. The Apple Macintosh had just been revealed, Micheal Jackson was still black and drinking pepsi, and Miami Vice burst on to the scene. But if you’re older like me (38) you might remember another fun fact. The Tamiya Hornet, it was, at the time one of the most popular RC cars out there. In fact it is THE very reason I am even interested in radio control in the first place. I remember thinking it was so fast! My Revo would eat its lunch. I have a team associated tc3 nitro (ntc3) and it’s fast. So fast in fact that i can hardly control it. I would say it tops out around 50+ mph. So when I see a guy driving an electric version 127 mph I’m impressed. Not because it can go that fast, but because he can keep the damn thing in a straight line! Watch this and see
